Medical Technologies Evaluation Programme process guide and methods guide
NICE has consulted on the process and methods guides for its new Medical Technologies Evaluation Programme. We would like to thank all those who took part in the consultation.
The process guide describes how NICE selects and produces its guidance on medical technologies. The process is designed so that guidance is developed for the NHS in an open, credible, transparent and timely way allowing appropriate input from relevant stakeholders.
The methods guide describes principles and methods used to select and assess medical technologies.
The guides have been developed with substantial input from individuals and organisations within the NHS, the medical technologies industry, academia, patient and carer organisations and the Department of Health. Comments resulting from public consultation are provided below.
