HDA publications

Many Health Development Agency (HDA) publications are available in PDF format below. These publications were either:

  • produced by the HDA, or
  • commissioned by them, but published after its functions were transferred to NICE.

While these publications help support evidence-based decision making by public health practitioners, they do not represent NICE guidance.

Changing families, changing communities: Children and young people

This is an edited volume of conference proceedings covering issues around young people's health. Topics included are: the role of parents, the wider family, social position, employment and sex education. The needs of young people with disabilities, with learning difficulties, and those with chronic illnesses are identified. These chapters should be seen as contributing towards the debate in certain areas, and triggering further work in connected areas, such as the influence of family and community on the health of young people.
