HDA publications

Many Health Development Agency (HDA) publications are available in PDF format below. These publications were either:

  • produced by the HDA, or
  • commissioned by them, but published after its functions were transferred to NICE.

While these publications help support evidence-based decision making by public health practitioners, they do not represent NICE guidance.

Health and lifestyles of the Chinese population in England (full text)

Chinese people living in England are less likely to visit a GP compared with both the general population and other minority ethnic groups. Their social support networks are comparatively poor, and racial harassment appears to be widespread. These are some of the key findings from a study looking at the health and lifestyles of this small (it comprises 0.28% of the general population) and geographically dispersed community. The study, which is the most comprehensive and up-to-date source of information on the Chinese population in England, was commissioned by the former Health Education Authority (HEA).
