Youth suicide prevention - Evidence briefing

Youth suicide is a major global public health issue. It ranks as one of the leading causes of death for adolescents between 15 and 19 years of age and accounts for 30% of deaths in the 15-24 year age group. This evidence briefing reviews the effectiveness of preventive strategies for youth suicide and suicidal behaviour. The evidence is derived primarily from systematic reviews published since 1980 and the findings are intended to inform policy and decision makers, NHS providers and public health practitioners. The briefing also identifies gaps in the evidence and makes recommendations for research.
