Helen Roberts, Non-Executive Director
Helen Roberts has been a non-executive director at NICE since 2004.
Career history
Professor Helen Roberts works at the UCL Institute of Child Health and is an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health. She has a particular interest in the translation of research evidence into policy and practice right across health, education and social care; inequalities in health (and what can be done about this) and the voice of the patient, user and citizen. Within NICE, she sits on the Citizens Council Committee, the Audit Committee and until recently was on the HR committee. She writes on the lay expertise of users of services (including child users); the synthesis of different kinds of research evidence, and implementation issues.
In the past, she has been on the board of an acute hospital trust, a PCT, an inner London Health Authority, and a Health Action Zone. Internationally, she currently sits on the Scientific Advisory Council of Alberta Innovates and the International Advisory Committee of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St Michael's Hospital, Toronto and is a member of the Cochrane Public Health Review Group.
