Ms Griffiths is a senior strategic manager with eleven years’ experience as a health authority chief executive in the NHS, most recently as Chief Executive of West Surrey Health Authority (1998-2001).
She has been self-employed since 2001 with a wide portfolio. She is currently the independent Chair of Connexions Surrey and chair of Headway Surrey. She undertakes health care consultancy, facilitation and mentoring, a recent example being a board paper for a PCT on delegation of functions and integrated governance for GP practice based/locality commissioning. She has long been active in the development of multi-disciplinary public health nationally. She has been closely associated since 2003 with the development of the Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists, which regulates public health specialists from backgrounds other than medicine. She has led projects for the Department of Health on the public health role of pharmacists and on the development of the specialised health promotion workforce. She is a fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, a trustee of the UK Public Health Association and a member of the Institute of Health Management.
