Professor Ebrahim is currently Professor and Honorary Consultant in Public Health and Head of the Department of Social Medicine at the University of Bristol and will take up a new appointment in October 2005 as Professor of Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He is also coordinating editor of the Cochrane Heart Group and a consultant to the World Health Organisation, providing advice on the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of interventions for the management of heart diseases. Previously he chaired the NHS R&D Health Technology Assessment commissioning board (1998-2004) and is currently chair of the Wellcome Trust Populations & Public health funding committee and a member of their strategy committee.
