Invitation to apply for the role of Chair to the national clinical guideline Caesarean Section (update)
We are looking to recruit a Chair to lead the development of the national clinical guideline on Caesarean Section (update) for NICE. The successful candidate will be a healthcare professional with significant experience in chairing multi-professional committees or working groups. Applicants should also have demonstrable relevant experience in and knowledge of caesarean section. Chairing a NICE Guideline Development Group (GDG) requires strong interpersonal and team-working skills. An ability to communicate complex issues to differing audiences is a vital part of this role and requires a commitment to evidence-based practice. Applicants should have experience of guideline development. An understanding of systematic reviews, critical appraisal methods and health economic analysis is desirable.
The National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health (NCC WCH) is commissioned by NICE to produce national clinical guidelines. NCC WCH is supported by a partnership, led by the RCOG, which includes the RCPCH, RCM, RCN and a range of stakeholder and consumer partners including GPs. We specialise in the production of clinically relevant and implementable guidelines for NHS professionals who care for women, children and their families. In addition to improving outcomes for women and children, our guidelines have influenced national organisations to conduct research and are being used to develop and redesign quality services.
Other clinical guidelines in development at NCC WCH include
|
Hypertension in pregnancy Pregnant women with complex social factors Management of Multiple Pregnancies Fertility (update) Caesarean Section (update) |
Neonatal jaundice Idiopathic childhood constipation Autism in children and adolescents Bacterial Meningitis and Meningococcal Septicaemia in children Spasticity in children |
Time commitment and conditions
We will require the collaboration of the chair starting from January 2010 until the guideline publication in October 2011, to assist with scoping, development and validation. During the development phase, for example, the NCC-WCH will host up to 9 GDG meetings, which will be held every 3-6 weeks.
The meetings will be a mixture of one and two-day events held at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in London.
The successful applicant will need to be able to attend a one day scoping meeting prior to the Stakeholder Workshop which will be held on the 25 January 2010.
