Date Update
14 February 2006 The remit for this guideline was received from the Department of Health and the Welsh Assembly Government in November 2005 as part of the Institute's 12th wave work programme. See below for more information on the Institute's guideline development process.
5 February 2007 The draft scope is out for consultation with stakeholders. The scope defines what aspects of care the guideline will cover and to whom it will apply. If you wish to comment, you need to do so via one of the registered stakeholder organisations by the deadline shown.
5 March 2007 Consultation on the draft scope is complete and the scope is being modified in the light of comments received. When completed it will be posted on the website. It will define what aspects of care the guideline will cover and to whom it will apply.
9 May 2007 The scope defines what aspects of care are covered by the guideline and to whom it applies.
9 May 2007 Comments that were made by stakeholders during the consultation on the scope can be seen in the scope consultation table.
1 April 2009 Responsibility for the development of this guideline has transferred to the National Clinical Guidelines Centre for Acute and Chronic Conditions. Key contacts and timelines  remain unchanged.
