CG42 Dementia: audit support (update)

Audit support is developed to support the implementation of NICE guidance. The aim is to help NHS organisations with a baseline assessment and to assist with the audit process, thereby helping to ensure that practice is in line with the NICE recommendations. This audit support has been produced in response to the report by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia entitled ‘Always a last resort’. The report found that over-prescribing of antipsychotics in care homes is a problem, and recommended local and national audit of the use of antipsychotics for people with dementia in care homes.
