NICE to launch new online resource for GPs
NICE is developing a new section of the website to support and encourage the use of our guidance in general practice.
This online resource will assist you in getting the most out of our guidance. It will allow you to view the wide range of other products we offer, and will help you ensure your patients receive the best possible care.
The new section will contain advice on the best ways to keep informed of latest NICE guidance. It will include podcasts and case studies on how to successfully implement our recommendations, as well as tips on recording progress and keeping your practice up-to-date.
A guiding principle behind the development of this new resource is that it should be led by you, the user, and be tested and verified at each stage by the people who work every day in general practice.
To do this, we formed a NICE General Practice Reference group, which comprises 50 practices recruited from across England, plus a wider group of GPs, and access to national networks for practice nurses and practice managers.
Another principle is that, like our guidance, the solutions we offer should be evidence based. There is a wealth of research into the barriers and enablers to the uptake of guidance in general practice.
We have used this evidence, and, working with some of the leading researchers in this field, have identified key lessons that could help improve the effectiveness of the tools and support we provide.
Now we need your help. We want to make sure this online resource is easy to use and relevant to your needs. A preview version will be available tomorrow at the Royal College of General Practitioners' Annual Primary Care Conference in Harrogate (7-9 October).
So if you are going to the conference, why not come and visit us at stand 8 to get a sneak preview and give us your feedback.
An early version of the general practice pages is now available.
