Consultant's catch-up
On 30 April NICE launched NHS Evidence. NHS Evidence is a web-based service that helps people find, access and use high-quality clinical and non-clinical evidence and best practice. Built around a powerful search engine, the service consolidates information from a wide range of sources in one central portal www.evidence.nhs.uk.
For those of you engaged in the day-to-day implementation of guidance, NHS Evidence can help by providing an additional resource that you can direct colleagues to if they are working with a particular piece of guidance. Over time NHS Evidence will develop to provide lots of extra features. The next release, due in the autumn, will provide significant additional functionality including:
- Personalisation: users will be able to register online and receive a range of personalised services including a customised home page, alert services and saved searches
- Alerts and feeds: Users will be able to subscribe to receive ‘push' services such as alerts on the home page, email alerts - about new content or developments to NHS Evidence for example
- Search syndication: Users of third party systems/portals will be able to access NHS Evidence e.g. NHS Medical Search
Please use your regular NICE and governance updates to your teams to direct them to NHS Evidence as the first place to look for up-to-date information on evidence and best practice. If you would like to know more about NHS Evidence please contact your local implementation consultant via fieldteam@nice.org.uk.
