NICE: 2000/017
Issued: 6 June 2000
Press Release
NICE seeks feedback from Patient Organisations.
NICE has worked with an advisory group representing patient, carer and user groups to develop a document which aims to provide these organisations with advice on preparing their submissions for NICE.
NICE and the advisory group are keen to receive views on this consultation document by the 14th July 2000.
Anne-Toni Rodgers, Executive Director said "NICE really wants to hear the patient and carer voice in its Technology Appraisals. It was clear from feedback we received that organisations working for patients and carers were keen to submit but were seeking advice on how to do it. We hope that this guidance, once complete, will provide the support the organisations are looking for."
"We understand that NICE may shortly be asked to look at certain cancer drugs; and the Institute expects to receive its 3rd full work programme in the near future. We hope that by aiming to produce the final document by the end of July the guidance will be available to inform the patient and carer groups involved in these programmes".
