The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the Commission for Health Improvement (CHI) are today launching a book to assist NHS staff with clinical audit and clinical governance. The launch takes place at Clinical Audit 2002, a conference for NHS staff using clinical audit to change and improve everyday clinical practice.
Principles of Best Practice in Clinical Audit will be published on 23rd February, and encourages staff to follow examples of best practice to help restore public confidence and trust in the NHS. The book is being published due to demand from professionals and in the wake of the strong support shown for clinical audit by the Government in its response to the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry.
Principles of Best Practice in Clinical Audit was funded by NICE and written by experts from the Quality Improvement Programme at the Royal College of Nursing and from the Clinical Governance Research and Development Unit at the University of Leicester.
