Shared Learning Awards short list criteria

1. Project context

How thoroughly were the barriers to implementation examined?

Prompt: consider to what extent the appropriate stakeholders, patients and the public (where relevant) were included and appropriate methods were used to understand the likely barriers to implementation.

2. Implementation methods

How effectively were the implementation methods matched to the barriers identified?

Prompt: consider whether the methods used to change practice were targeted at the barriers: for example, if understanding of guidance was an issue were educational methods used, or if awareness of current practice was a barrier, was audit undertaken? Were the methods used adapted to address the different issues?

3. Results and evaluation

How well were the results of the project measured?

Prompt: consider whether the appropriate results are measured: for example, is the impact for patients demonstrated or have the appropriate process measures been selected to demonstrate a change in practice?

4. Shared Learning

How transferrable to other organisations and helpful to others are the key learning points?

Prompt: consider whether elements of the approach taken can be transferred, even if other organisations may have different populations or issues to address? Do the learning points raise issues that others may not have thought about but would be important to a projects success?
