    This guideline covers recognition, assessment and monitoring of faltering growth in infants and children. It includes a definition of growth thresholds for concern and identifying the risk factors for, and possible causes of, faltering growth. It also covers interventions, when to refer, service design, and information and support.

  2. Unintentional injuries in the home: interventions for under 15s (PH30)

    This guideline covers home safety assessments, supplying and installing safety equipment and providing education and advice. It aims to prevent unintentional injuries among all children and young people aged under 15 but, in particular, those living in disadvantaged circumstances.

  3. Fractures (non-complex): assessment and management (NG38)

    This guideline covers assessing and managing non-complex fractures that can be treated in the emergency department or orthopaedic clinic. It aims to improve practice so that people with fractures receive the care that they need without unnecessary tests and treatments.

    This guideline covers children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour, including those on remand or serving community or custodial sentences.     This guideline covers recognising, diagnosing and managing bacterial meningitis and meningococcal disease in babies, children, young people and adults. It aims to reduce death and disability by helping healthcare professionals recognise meningitis and treat it quickly and effectively.

  6. Bipolar disorder: assessment and management (CG185)

    This guideline covers recognising, assessing and treating bipolar disorder (formerly known as manic depression) in children, young people and adults. The recommendations apply to bipolar I, bipolar II, mixed affective and rapid cycling disorders. It aims to improve access to treatment and quality of life in people with bipolar disorder.

    This guideline covers identifying and managing otitis media with effusion (OME), also known as ‘glue ear’, in children younger than 12 years. It aims to improve hearing and quality of life in children with OME.

    This guideline describes good patient experience for babies, children and young people, and makes recommendations on how it can be delivered. It aims to make sure that all babies, children and young people using NHS services have the best possible experience of care. It is recognised that parents and carers play a key role, and where appropriate, we took their views into account when developing the recommendations.

  9. Child maltreatment: when to suspect maltreatment in under 18s (CG89)

    This guideline covers the signs of possible child maltreatment in children and young people aged under 18 years. It aims to raise awareness and help health professionals who are not child protection specialists to identify the features of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect and fabricated or induced illness.

  10. Antimicrobial stewardship (QS121)

    This quality standard covers the effective use of antimicrobial medicines (including antibiotics) to reduce the risk of antimicrobial resistance, which is when antimicrobial medicines lose their effectiveness. It covers all settings and all types of antimicrobials for treating bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic infections. It describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement.

  11. Fractures (complex): assessment and management (NG37)

    This guideline covers assessing and managing pelvic fractures, open fractures and severe ankle fractures (known as pilon fractures and intra-articular distal tibia fractures) in pre-hospital settings (including ambulance services), emergency departments and major trauma centres. It aims to reduce deaths and long-term health problems by improving the quality of emergency and urgent care.

  12. Challenging behaviour and learning disabilities: prevention and interventions for people with learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges (NG11)

    This guideline covers interventions and support for children, young people and adults with a learning disability and behaviour that challenges. It highlights the importance of understanding the cause of behaviour that challenges, and performing thorough assessments so that steps can be taken to help people change their behaviour and improve their quality of life. The guideline also covers support and intervention for family members or carers.

  13. Drug misuse prevention: targeted interventions (NG64)

    This guideline covers targeted interventions to prevent misuse of drugs, including illegal drugs, ‘legal highs’ and prescription-only medicines. It aims to prevent or delay harmful use of drugs in children, young people and adults who are most likely to start using drugs or who are already experimenting or using drugs occasionally.

  14. Neonatal infection: antibiotics for prevention and treatment (NG195)

    This guideline covers preventing bacterial infection in healthy babies of up to and including 28 days corrected gestational age, treating pregnant women whose unborn baby is at risk of infection, and caring for babies of up to and including 28 days corrected gestational age with a suspected or confirmed bacterial infection. It aims to reduce delays in recognising and treating infection and prevent unnecessary use of antibiotics. The guideline does not cover viral infections.

  15. Obsessive-compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder: treatment (CG31)

    This guideline covers recognising, assessing, diagnosing and treating obsessive-compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder in adults, young people and children (aged 8 years and older). It aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder. It includes recommendations on how families and carers may be able to support people with either of these conditions, and how they can get support for themselves.
