Information for the public

NICE has assessed the EOS 2D/3D imaging system to help the NHS decide whether to use this product.

The EOS 2D/3D imaging system takes standard X-rays but can also produce a single picture when a person is standing and create 3D images of the skeleton. It has potential for use in managing spinal deformity and in planning knee and hip replacements.

NICE has said that although there is not enough evidence of benefit to patients to recommend routine use of the EOS 2D/3D imaging system in the NHS, research to collect more information about patient benefits is encouraged.
